Cheesepressers Slip Past Erie, 5-4
The Toledo Cheesepressers sent the home crowd home smiling from Velveeta Field.

The Cheesepressers grabbed a win, 5-4, at Velveeta Field, overcoming a fine effort from Erie pitcher Kenneth Carnell. Carnell went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The win was credited to Jim Samis in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Bernard Robbins took the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Toledo center fielder Sean Mitchell, facing Bernard Robbins, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cheesepressers the 5-4 win.

"We had a chance to win," said Erie manager Jason Morris, "but we didn't get it done."

The Cheesepressers' win now puts them at 36-29.
