Tempest Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The New Haven Tempest topped the Toledo Cheesepressers by the score of 7-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Chris Phillips. Phillips was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Tempest on the day. Mike Perry was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 32 save opportunities. New Haven has now won 4 straight.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and two out in the top of the fifth inning. That's when right fielder Louis Hendrickx, who is tied for 5th in the UL in RBI with 92, reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. The Tempest went on to win.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Phillips said after the game.
