Waterspouts Down Fighting Beetles, 8-1
|
The Honolulu Waterspouts beat the Tucson Fighting Beetles, 8-1, at Kmart Park. Honolulu catcher Colin Allen earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 1-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The Waterspouts now have a record of 84-62 with the win over Tucson.
Allen contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Honolulu in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Allen took a cutter from Josh Painter and stroked the double to right-center. His 33rd double of the season allowed the Waterspouts to leap in front, 3-1.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Honolulu manager Claribette Del Rosario.
