The inspired effort of Toledo shortstop Xavier Gomez was not enough to prevent a 8-7 loss to the Corpus Christi Kingfishers. Gomez was 3-5 with a triple and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Corpus Christi is last in the United League East Division with a record of 59-93.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Malik Anderson had a chance to end it. Toledo pitcher Alvin Biter had other ideas. But with no outs, Anderson drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Kingfishers had the win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Anderson said in his postgame press conference.
