Cheesepressers Curb Graybirds, 8-5
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers grabbed a 8-5 win over the Reno Graybirds at Velveeta Field. Toledo right fielder Josh Maynard went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Robby Cappel earned the save for Toledo, his 17th of the year. Toledo improves to 46-21 with the win. They lead their division by 13½ games.
Curt Nykanen, who is tied for 7th in the UL in triples with 4, helped out the Toledo cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 4 with a double.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toledo manager Matt Perrone.
