Pharaohs Continue Skid Thanks to Verdusco, Hullabaloo
Two good teams met in a late-season showdown at The Zoo.

Kalamazoo right fielder Alvaro Verdusco made his presence felt in the 10-5 Hullabaloo triumph over the Des Moines Pharaohs. Verdusco was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Travis Gaffney earned the win for Kalamazoo. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, Scott Griffith hit a 3-run home run for Kalamazoo. The 26th home run of the season for the Kalamazoo catcher put the Hullabaloo on top, 3-0.

"I felt good up there," said Griffith. "I saw the ball well."

The Pharaohs, now 88-68, have lost 5 straight.
