Tempest Win Again, Streak Now at 15
|
The New Haven Tempest extended their winning streak at Flagship Field.
The New Haven Tempest knocked off the Bangor Devil Bears, 9-5, at Flagship Field. Ben Dimitri, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Haven won. The shortstop was 2-3 with a triple, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Wally Woolsey earned the win to go to 7-3. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. Earning his 16th save of the year was Jason Balentine.
The Tempest beat the Devil Bears in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jeffrey Stuart produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against Bangor pitcher Kevin Frix, Stuart gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said New Haven manager Brandon Eberle.
New Haven has run its win streak to 15 in a row.
