Knights Bump Off Tempest, 5-4

The New Haven Tempest got a superb performance from catcher Brian Richardson, but the Havana Knights still won the game, 5-4. Richardson was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. George Adams was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. The save was credited to Jason Slater, his 15th.
The Knights beat the Tempest in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Aaron Rappuhn produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against New Haven pitcher Dan Hindes, Rappuhn gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
"We squandered some opportunities," said New Haven manager Brandon Eberle.
Havana is third in the United League Atlantic Division with a record of 33-38.
