Conditions were not ideal but Des Moines and Kalamazoo were able to put their game in the books.
Des Moines rode a fine outing from starter Steve Porter to victory over the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo at Tractor Supply Company Park. The final score was 5-2. Porter, now 5-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run.
The Pharaohs got a big at-bat from right fielder Jim Lively. For the game, Lively went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Des Moines a 3-1 lead.
"We did enough to win," said Porter.
Des Moines now owns a record of 30-44.
