The Topeka Bulldogs turned back the Toledo Cheesepressers, 5-4, at Velveeta Field. Oscar Gallegos was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs. Their 44-32 record puts the Bulldogs first in the Patriot League Central Division.
Scott McDonald's at-bat in the top of the seventh inning was a big one for Topeka. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 1st and 3rd and Topeka trailing 4-3, the left fielder reached on an error by the second baseman, driving in 1 run.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Topeka manager Travis Bryant.
