New Haven Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Despite a great performance by Honolulu starter Ryan Grosso, the New Haven Tempest defeated the Waterspouts by the score of 3-1 at Hartford Courant Center today. Grosso threw 7 innings allowing 1 run to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Tempest from moving one game closer to the League Championship Series. New Haven now leads the Division Series 2-0.
New Haven took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Mike Atwell stroked a run-scoring single to make it 2-1, Tempest.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New Haven skipper Brandon Eberle.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at Coconuts Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Philip Lundholm for the Tempest and Justin Endicott for the Waterspouts.
