Wichita Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
When the games really matter, the Wichita Warlocks put on their best show, beating the New Haven Tempest by a final score of 2-1 today. John Quinn earned player of the game honors, as he threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Wichita now leads New Haven 1-0 in the best-of-5 affair.
The Warlocks beat the Tempest in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Harry Cornelius produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against New Haven pitcher John Quinn, Cornelius gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
Cornelius called the win "a collective effort."
The next game is set to be played on Sunday, October 10th, 2021 at Flagship Field. Slated to start are Josh Meadows for Wichita and Mike Church for New Haven.
