Phillips Blasts Idahosies, Tempest Take Game 2, 8-4
|
The New Haven Tempest relied on the hitting of left fielder Chris Phillips to get by the Boise Idahosies, 8-4, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Series today. For the game, Phillips went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.
Luke Kirby, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the New Haven cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said New Haven manager Brandon Eberle.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at Flagship Field. Slated to start are Arturo Gonzalez for the Idahosies and Dan Hindes for the Tempest.
