New Haven Takes Wildcard Series in Deciding Game
|
Federal Baseball League fans were certainly not disappointed with this United League Wildcard Series.
The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the New Haven Tempest prevailing over the Boise Idahosies to advance to the Division Series.
New Haven won the final game by a score of 8-1 at Flagship Field and that sealed the series 2-1.
"Things were pretty tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said left fielder Chris Phillips, who earned MVP honors.
For the series, Phillips hit .643 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 5 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Division Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes.
