Home Field Advantage: Morales, Toledo Open Division Series with Win
|
The Division Series got off to a quiet start today, with the host Toledo Cheesepressers taking a low-scoring 3-1 win over the New Haven Tempest. Toledo right-hander Jordan Morales was marvelous at Velveeta Field and was named player of the game. The Cheesepressers now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when shortstop Xavier Gomez, who was drafted in the three round of the 2021 draft, reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. The Cheesepressers went on to win.
"Every team in baseball loses," Tempest manager Brandon Eberle said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th, 2026 at Velveeta Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Dave Berke for the Tempest and Jordan Morales for the Cheesepressers.
