Tempest Even With Cheesepressers After Home Win
|
The New Haven Tempest and the Toledo Cheesepressers will take the Division Series to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Tempest beat the Cheesepressers 6-3 at Flagship Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. New Haven left-hander John Quinn was named player of the game in the win after he threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs.
The Tempest beat the Cheesepressers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jeffrey Stuart produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Toledo pitcher Marshall Pazar, Stuart gave his team a 4-2 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
Quinn attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th, 2026 at Velveeta Field. Slated to start are Dave Berke for New Haven and Marshall Pazar for Toledo.
