Quinn Handcuffs Bulldogs, Tempest Seize 1-0 Advantage in World Series
|
The World Series got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling New Haven Tempest taking a low-scoring 3-2 win over the host Topeka Bulldogs. New Haven left-hander John Quinn was marvelous at Lenscrafters 20/20 Park and was named player of the game. The Tempest now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The Tempest beat the Bulldogs in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ryan Freeman produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Topeka pitcher Ben Hardenberg, Freeman gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"It was just a matter of executing," said New Haven manager Brandon Eberle.
The next game is scheduled for Thursday, October 29th, 2026 at Lenscrafters 20/20 Park. Slated to start are Mike Benjamin for New Haven and Marcus Barr for Topeka.
