Host Tempest Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
The Topeka Bulldogs have a critical edge over the New Haven Tempest in the World Series, thanks to the veteran arm of Ben Hardenberg.

Hardenberg, 35, put on a dominant performance at Flagship Field today, leading the Bulldogs to victory, 9-1, in a pivotal Game 5. Topeka is now one game away from the World Series, leading the best-of-7 series by a margin of 3-2. New Haven will need to win both remaining games to advance.

The Bulldogs beat the Tempest in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Eric Brannen produced in the top of the third. Batting against New Haven pitcher Keegan Kroll, Brannen gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We lost," New Haven manager Brandon Eberle said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is set to be played on Wednesday, November 4th, 2026 at Lenscrafters 20/20 Park. Slated to start are Dave Berke for New Haven and Elijah Frazier for Topeka.
