Toledo Takes League Championship Series in Deciding Game
|
The fans in Toledo are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in New Haven.
The Toledo Cheesepressers finished off the New Haven Tempest 9-2 in the deciding game of the League Championship Series played at Flagship Field.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the World Series.
For his standout play, Toledo shortstop Xavier Gomez was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .310, drove in 6 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Gomez and that doomed us," said Tempest manager Brandon Eberle. "Hats off to Toledo, though. That was a great series."
The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
