Corsairs, Cheesepressers Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Thunder Bay Now Leads Series 1-0
Danny Munson has been in plenty of pressure situations during a 10-year baseball career, so a tight Game 1 in the World Series didn't faze him.

The 36-year-old Thunder Bay right fielder dealt enough damage against the Toledo Cheesepressers pitching staff at Velveeta Field today to take player of the game honors and help Thunder Bay move one game closer to a World Series appearance. Munson went 3-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times as the Corsairs took the 6-5 win. With it, Thunder Bay holds a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

The Corsairs beat the Cheesepressers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jorge Cervantes produced in the top of the 11th. Batting against Toledo pitcher Gabriel Nunez, Cervantes gave his team a 6-5 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Munson.

The next game is set to be played on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at Velveeta Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Nazir Bruton for Thunder Bay and Michael Ponce for Toledo.
