Tempest Lose, 2-1, at Fallow Field
|
The Corpus Christi Kingfishers picked up a win at Fallow Field, knocking off the New Haven Tempest, 2-1. On the mound for Corpus Christi was right-hander John Tanksley, who played a pivotal role in the win. Tanksley picked up the win for Corpus Christi, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Matt Sturtevant was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 6 save opportunities.
Had Chris Long not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Long hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Kingfishers.
"I like what I saw today," said Corpus Christi manager Matt Silva, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Tempest, now 30-52, have lost 7 in a row.
