Hullabaloo Lose to Kingfishers, 1-0
|
Corpus Christi Kingfishers starter Ben Hardenberg turned in a sterling performance against the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, leading his team to a slim 1-0 win. Hardenberg, now 6-9, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. David Sanders earned his 17th save in 23 chances.
The Kingfishers beat the Hullabaloo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Marco Magana produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Kalamazoo pitcher Rich Backowski, Magana gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Magana said.
The Hullabaloo, now 45-38, have lost 4 in a row.
