The Corpus Christi Kingfishers grabbed a 8-5 win over the Toledo Cheesepressers at Velveeta Field. Corpus Christi shortstop Manny Perez went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles to earn player of the game honors. Corpus Christi reliever John Kurth picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Jordan Morales took the loss. Corpus Christi is now 28-56, while Toledo is 54-30.

Doing his part for Corpus Christi was catcher Nelson Veracruz, who stroked a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, Veracruz was 1 for 5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Perez told the Corpus Christi Daily.
