Penton Slugs Platoon to 10-7 Win
|
With right fielder Tim Penton leading the charge, the Saskatoon Platoon defeated the Honolulu Waterspouts, 10-7, at Coconuts Park. Penton, who is a eight-time All-Star, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Jamie Schmidt was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The Platoon have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 3rd win in 9 games.
Had Jon Wolfe not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Wolfe hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Platoon.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Wolfe said after the game.
