Warlocks Come Back Late to Top Hullabaloo
|
The Wichita Warlocks trumped the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, 7-5, at The Zoo. Wichita third baseman Jeff Martinez was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Wichita reliever Josh Haynes picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Neil Moss was saddled with the loss. The first-place Warlocks, at 62-28, now lead their division by 14 games.
Had Bill Nelson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Nelson hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Warlocks.
"I like our moxie," said Warlocks manager Phil Romano.
