The Wichita Warlocks did just enough to sneak past the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, 3-2, at The Zoo. Wichita pitcher Tom Boots earned player of the game honors. Boots got the win, improving to 9-7. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Boots allowed 2 earned runs. Dan Sheffield notched his 24th save in 25 chances.
Nate Armstrong drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Wichita. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Rich Backowski. It was his 59th RBI of the season.
"We did enough to win," said Armstrong.
Wichita has an impressive 63-28 record.
