Hullabaloo Lose to Pharaohs, 6-5
|
The Kalamazoo Hullabaloo got a sterling performance from right fielder Matt Kasparian, but the Pharaohs still prevailed, 6-5. Kasparian was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Dave Sanchez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Phil Ross was tagged with the loss. Des Moines is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Pharaohs beat the Hullabaloo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Zack Avison produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Kalamazoo pitcher Phil Ross, Avison gave his team a 6-5 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We take it day by day here," said Avison, "and today was a good one for us."
