Saskatoon left-hander Mike Caple made an effective start against the New Haven Tempest at Hartford Courant Center, leading his team to a 4-1 win. Steve Quintana picked up the save for Saskatoon, his 1st of the year. Saskatoon goes to 7-3 with the win.

Jonathan Mendoza aided the Saskatoon cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Saskatoon manager Matt Germano. "It's usually not just one thing."
