Terrazas, Goldrush Beat Tempest, 7-4
|
The Eureka Goldrush beat the New Haven Tempest, 7-4, at Hartford Courant Center. The Goldrush got a fine performance from second baseman Robert Terrazas, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. John Davis picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-7. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. Getting the save was Bobby Johnston, his 26th.
The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth when Terrazas, who is tied for 5th in the PL in triples with 7, hit a 2-run double. It propelled the Goldrush into the lead, 2-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Eureka manager Justin Long.
Eureka, at 54-46, occupies third place in the Patriot League West Division.
