Multi-HR Game for Reiss in 6-5 Win
|
The Corpus Christi Kingfishers turned back the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, 6-5, at Fallow Field. John Reiss was named player of the game for his fine performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to Bobby Alvarez in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Jen-ta Mao took the loss. Even with the win, the Kingfishers have a dismal 34-67 record.
The Kingfishers got a big at-bat from catcher Nelson Veracruz. For the game, Veracruz went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave Corpus Christi a 5-4 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Kalamazoo manager Jason Eberle. "But we decided not to take it."
