Waterspouts Take Close Win Over Tempest
|
The Honolulu Waterspouts topped the New Haven Tempest, 6-4, in United League action at Coconuts Park. The player of the game was Honolulu pitcher and St. Paul, Minnesota native Jake Doak. Honolulu reliever Chad McCloskey picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Dan Hindes was collared with the loss. Earning his 6th save for Honolulu was Billy Ochoa.
Colin Allen, who is on pace for 210 hits this season, aided the Honolulu cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Honolulu manager Claribette Del Rosario.
Honolulu, now 62-39, holds first place in the United League West Division.
