Fighting Beetles Beat Waterspouts, 4-3
Tucson beat Honolulu at Kmart Park, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder John Brenner, who earned player of the game honors. Scott Langworthy, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.1 innings. Bobby Valle, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Brenner had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 changeup from Travis Covey, he banged a 2-run single to right, giving the Fighting Beetles a 4-3 lead. It was the 68th hit of the year for Brenner.

After the game, Tucson manager Ray Bannerman applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.

The win puts the Fighting Beetles at 44-65, while the Waterspouts drop to 58-52.
