Conditions were not ideal but New Haven and Des Moines were able to put their game in the books.
The New Haven Tempest topped the Des Moines Pharaohs, 7-4, in United League action at Tractor Supply Company Park. The player of the game was New Haven right fielder Louis Hendrickx. Jason Balentine earned save number 25.
Brett Jewett, who is rated as the 29th best prospect by BNN, helped out the New Haven cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 4 with a walk.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager John Hann. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
New Haven has an impressive 68-35 record.
