Tempest Go Down to Defeat, 4-2
|
Knoxville Running Rebels starter Joe Hagley turned in a top-notch performance against the New Haven Tempest at Smith and Wesson Field. The result was a win for the Running Rebels, 4-2. Hagley, the winner, moves to 9-6. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 1 walk. Knoxville, at 51-63, occupies third place in the United League East Division.
Making an impact for Knoxville was first baseman Ben Artman. He drilled a 2-run double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Artman was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"I felt good up there," said Artman. "I saw the ball well."
