The Bangor Devil Bears were almost helpless today in their 6-0 loss to the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo and hurler Steve Wood. Wood kept the Devil Bears confused all game, spinning a 2-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Wood," Bangor manager Matt Schmidt said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 29-year-old right-hander had no walks and 14 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Wood said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Season-to-date Wood has rung up 8 wins and 6 losses in 21 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.65 and has fanned 140 batters in 156 innings.
