Victory Over Wildcats Takes New Haven to 72-36
|
The New Haven Tempest had to overcome a big game from Savannah third baseman James Sotello to leave Hartford Courant Center with a 7-4 victory. Sotello went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Edgar Zavala in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Stuart Cruz took the loss. Cameron Pelletier earned the save for New Haven, his 28th.
New Haven took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Mike Atwell stroked a 3-run home run to make it 7-4, Tempest.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Atwell said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The first-place Tempest have won 6 consecutive games.
