New Haven beat Wichita at Propel Fitness Water Field, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Dave Berke, who earned player of the game honors. Berke went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-6. With the win, the Tempest have a record of 58-50.

Marcus Butts drew 3 walks in 5 plate appearances for New Haven. The 2023 Best Ballplayer Award winner had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off John Grubbs. It was his 86th walk of the season.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Butts said.
