Cheesepressers Turn Back Platoon, 5-3
|
The Toledo Cheesepressers bested the Saskatoon Platoon by a score of 5-3, with center fielder Tatsumi Irie getting the main credit. On the day, Irie was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs for the Cheesepressers. Alonzo Galindo was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Jason Hoose recorded his 38th save for Toledo.
Austin Rose drove in one run for Toledo. The 24-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Juan Martinez. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Rose told the Toledo Daily News.
The Cheesepressers have now won 4 straight.
