Cheesepressers Bang Out 7-1 Win Versus Boise
|
Pitcher Michael Ponce was sensational for the Toledo Cheesepressers in his team's 7-1 triumph over the Boise Idahosies. Ponce received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Ponce, the winner, moves to 9-7. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up no walks. Toledo has a 4-game win streak, while Boise has lost 3 in a row.
The Cheesepressers beat the Idahosies in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Xavier Gomez produced in the bottom of the first. Batting against Boise pitcher Arturo Gonzalez, Gomez gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gomez told the Toledo Observer. "It's as simple as that."
