A 3-RBI performance from center fielder Jose Rodriguez, who is tied for 8th in the UL with a .386 on-base percentage, led the New Haven Tempest to a 7-2 win over the Bangor Devil Bears. New Haven reliever Wally Woolsey picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Jarrod Colcott was saddled with the loss. The first-place Tempest, at 62-55, now lead their division by 10 games.
Rodriguez had a key at-bat for New Haven early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was his 79th hit of the season and gave New Haven an early 1-0 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Rodriguez told the New Haven Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
