Tight Tilt Goes to Waterspouts, 3-2
|
The Reno Graybirds got a sterling performance from pitcher George Cully, but the Waterspouts still prevailed, 3-2. Cully was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. Tony Sanchez got the save, his 21st in 23 chances. The Waterspouts move to 53-66 with the win, while the Graybirds drop to 51-68.
In the bottom of the third, Jared McLaughlin hit a 2-run home run for Honolulu. The 20th home run of the season for the Honolulu designated hitter put the Waterspouts on top, 2-0.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said McLaughlin.
