Cheesepressers Turn Back Little Rock, 5-4
|
Toledo starter Travis Storm pitched effectively against the Little Rock Mighty Cocks at Durex Field. The right-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. Jim Samis picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-3. Eddie Vasquez was tagged with the loss. The first-place Cheesepressers, at 78-43, now lead their division by 7 games.
The Cheesepressers got a big at-bat from shortstop Xavier Gomez. For the game, Gomez was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Toledo a 4-2 lead.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Gomez. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
