The Des Moines Pharaohs did just enough to sneak past the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo, 2-1, at Tractor Supply Company Park. Des Moines pitcher Walt Beckwith earned player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Beckwith surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Steve Reinders notched his 6th save in 6 chances.

The Pharaohs beat the Hullabaloo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Ryan Halsey produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Kalamazoo pitcher Phil Ross, Halsey gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Halsey said.

Des Moines goes to 70-51. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
