New Haven Tempest starter Philip Lundholm was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Corpus Christi Kingfishers, 4-2. Lundholm, now 8-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. New Haven is now 84-40, 16 games up in the United League Atlantic Division.
The Tempest beat the Kingfishers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Caleb Zimmer produced in the bottom of the second. Batting against Corpus Christi pitcher Brad Bluske, Zimmer gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Lundholm.
