Turkeys Cut Down Hullabaloo, 4-2
|
Albuquerque Turkeys starter Pat Mitchell pitched a strong game against the Kalamazoo Hullabaloo at The Zoo, leading the Turkeys to a 4-2 win. Mitchell, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Albuquerque is 66-58 and Kalamazoo, with the loss, 78-46.
The Turkeys beat the Hullabaloo in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Bobby Martin produced in the top of the third. Batting against Kalamazoo pitcher Steve Wood, Martin gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Albuquerque manager John Lambkin. "It's usually not just one thing."
