Topeka starter Michael Ponce pitched effectively against the Honolulu Waterspouts at Lenscrafters 20/20 Park. The left-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. The save was credited to Jarod Blust, his 14th. Topeka is now 81-45.

Scott McMurtry took Dennis Cook deep with one out in the bottom of the second. On a 2-2 cutter, McMurtry drilled a 2-run home run to left-center. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put Topeka on top, 2-0.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Ponce.
