Topeka beat Honolulu on the strength of starter Matt Wendland's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Jamie Schmidt picked up the save, his 32nd. At 74-53, Topeka is in first place in the Patriot League Central Division.
Dustin Murphy aided the Topeka cause with a 2-run single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1. He drove in 2 runs.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Topeka manager Travis Bryant.
