Toledo Makes It 6 Straight with 7-5 Win
The Toledo Cheesepressers defeated the Thunder Bay Corsairs, 7-5, at Dr. Thunderdome. Toledo shortstop Xavier Gomez was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Doug Briere picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Matt Horan was tagged with the loss. Kenny Fuja was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

The most important at-bat for Toledo came in the top of the ninth inning, when third baseman Jon Kilkenny stroked a 1-2 fastball to right for a 2-run home run, putting Toledo up, 6-4.

"It feels good to get this one," Gomez told the Toledo Observer.

The Cheesepressers, at 81-47, have now won 6 straight.
