Ice Sox Stymie Toledo, Take 2-0 Win
|
The Anchorage Ice Sox got a strong performance from pitcher Jim Fasanello, who stymied the Toledo offense en route to a 2-0 win at Velveeta Field. In 6.1 innings, Fasanello surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Pat Jackson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 33 of 41 save opportunities.
Fabio Cardon, who is tied for 10th in the PL in runs scored with 68, helped out the Anchorage cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Fasanello told the Anchorage Observer. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The first-place Ice Sox, at 72-56, now lead their division by 6 games.
