Late Rally by Waterspouts Secures Win
|
The Honolulu Waterspouts got a strong performance from pitcher Nazir Bruton, who stymied the Reno offense en route to a 2-1 win at Harris Interactive Arena. Bruton picked up the win for Honolulu, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 9-6. Lorenzo Sierra was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 40 of 41 save opportunities.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Chris Davis's at-bat in the top of the eighth was crucial. With one out, the Honolulu right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Bruton. "Obviously."
The Waterspouts bumped their record to 79-60 with this latest triumph.
